UTA supports truck drivers on German mo-torways with protective masks and disin-fectant

  • Distribution at key motorway rest areas and truck stops across the country
  • UTA’s We Care for You initiative – conducted in partnership with DocStop – is part of Edenred Group’s More than Ever relief plan

Kleinostheim, Germany – UTA, a leading provider of fuel and service cards in Europe, is partnering with DocStop, the initiative for better medical care for professional drivers, to protect truck drivers travelling through Germany during the coronavirus pandemic. Over the next three weeks, a mobile team will distribute several thousand protective masks and disinfectant to truckers at rest areas and truck stops along major traffic routes.

Carsten Bettermann, CEO of UTA, says: "Truck drivers have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, but it’s difficult for them to adhere to strict protective and hygienic measures while on the road. Through our We Care for You initiative, we’re offering support to truckers while contributing to Edenred Group's More than Ever worldwide relief effort. We’re pleased to work with our longterm partner DocStop on this campaign."

Joachim Fehrenkötter, Chairman of DocStop e.V., says: "DocStop and UTA have proven several times that they make a strong team. Through our joint SaniStop campaign and the installation of sanitary containers as part of the #Logistikhilft industry initiative, we’ve helped improve hygienic conditions for truckers in Germany. And as part of We Care for You, we’ve already distributed masks and disinfectant to truck drivers in Austria. Now, we’re happy to work alongside UTA to launch the initiative in Germany.”

UTA Corona relief measures – Europe-wide
In addition to helping truck drivers in Germany and Austria cope with difficult working conditions during the pandemic, UTA’s We Care for You initiative has provided truck drivers in Spain, Italy, France and Poland with support ranging from the provision of protective masks and disinfectant to free meals and access to shower facilities in cooperation with motorway service areas and transport associations.
