Kleinostheim, Germany – UTA Edenred, a leading mobility service provider in Europe and an Edenred company, now enables its customers to purchase sustainable HVO 100 diesel fuel at six UTA acceptance points in Germany, with more to follow. UTA customers can obtain HVO 100 at three Zieglmeier stations in the Ingolstadt area; at two Wirtz stations in the Ruhr area; and at a bft station on the A40 near Venlo on the German-Dutch border.

A diesel fuel made from hydrotreated vegetable oil, HVO 100 has recently been in the spotlight because it enables the climate-friendly operation of combustion engine vehicles and is sustainably produced from food and agricultural waste.

For legal reasons, HVO 100 is not yet sold at commercial fuel stations in Germany. However, it can be purchased in canisters or barrels, and sales in Germany are likely to begin by the end of 2023 after the German government passes an amendment to the Federal Emission Control Ordinance (“Bundesemissionsschutzverordnung“).

In other countries, HVO 100 is available without restriction. Within UTA Edenred’s European network, HVO 100 can be obtained at 327 stations in 11 European countries, including Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Northern European countries, and Baltic states – in addition to Germany.

Lukas Schneider, Chief Partnerships Officer at UTA Edenred, says: "Providers of alternative fuels such as biodiesel, LNG or CNG are an important part of our acceptance partner network. Expanding access to HVO 100 is a priority for us and I’m pleased we’re already offering customers access to hundreds of HVO 100 filling stations in Europe."

Richard Röhr, Director Commercial Road Transportation at UTA Edenred, says: "We not only want to make mobility easier for our customers, but also enable them to make their fleets more sustainable. HVO 100 provides another lever to help our customers improve the environmental compliance of conventional diesel fleets."
