- Odometer reading capability – the result of cooperation between UTA Edenred and SaaS provider Deftpower – will be available to UTA eCharge users in the coming weeks
- Feature improves fleet management, helps prevent fraud, and makes fleet vehicles easier to value
- Capability launches for Volkswagen models; connection to other electric vehicle brands in development
- Solution represents the latest extension of the 360° charging solution UTA eCharge, which UTA Edenred offers in partnership with charging platform operators Spirii and Deftpower
With each charging process in the UTA eCharge network, the current mileage of the vehicle at the time of charging is automatically recorded and displayed on the next invoice. No manual entry is required. To use the mileage recording, the vehicle must be linked to the UTA eCharge app once. The charging processes can then be carried out via the app or with a UTA eCard.
The new functionality is made possible by Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider Deftpower, UTA Edenred's public charging partner for UTA eCharge.
More transparency, safety and cost control
With the automatic mileage recording capability, fleet managers can track the mileage of their vehicles at all times. The regular comparison of mileage and the amount of electricity charged also helps detect irregularities and fraudulent activities.
Another advantage of the feature is that it makes it easier to determine the value of vehicles. Charging cycles and mileage are the main factors influencing the service life of the battery and thus for assessing the residual value of an electric vehicle.
Pierre Jalady, General Manager Edenred Mobility EMEA and CEO of UTA Edenred, says: "UTA eCharge already provides customers with a comprehensive solution for charging their electric fleet vehicles. The addition of automatic mileage recording during charging – which is a market first – will help fleet managers to be even more effective and productive in their roles."
Deftpower CEO Jacob van Zonneveld says: "We’re proud to help enhance the utility of UTA eCharge for fleet managers. The way UTA Edenred supports its fleet customers is impressive. There’s more to come from Deftpower, which will take the user charging experience to a whole new level."
Step-by-step integration of vehicle brands
As a first step, the automatic mileage recording capability will be available for Volkswagen vehicles, with other brands to be added over the coming months.
The prerequisite for any integration is that the vehicle manufacturer allows third parties to access mileage data and process it. If the capability cannot be performed in a vehicle because of this, there is a manual input option.
