UTA Edenred's UTA One® next EETS toll device now covers Croatia and Slovenia

Kleinostheim, Germany – UTA Edenred, a leading mobility service provider in Europe and an Edenred company, has expanded the number of toll contexts available for its interoperable UTA One® next toll device with the addition of Croatia and Slovenia. The 4G-compatible, Electronic Toll Service (EETS) on-board unit (OBU) now handles 20 toll contexts in 18 European countries, making it the most comprehensive solution on the market.

  • Most comprehensive toll solution on the market, with 20 toll contexts in 18 countries
  • Compatibility with Czech and Danish toll systems in development
  • Updates also planned for UTA One® (1st generation) and UTA One® Move

The new toll contexts can be quickly and easily activated by customers in the UTA Service Center and be installed via an over-the-air update. Alternatively, new devices can be ordered with the toll contexts already installed.

Olaf Schneider, Director Tolls & Business Services at UTA Edenred, says: “Our toll portfolio is one of our key service areas, and UTA One next, like its UTA One predecessor, is our flagship device. Customers can look forward to several important enhancements this year.”

UTA One next: 20 toll contexts in one OBU and suitable for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes

With the service expansion, UTA One next now settles tolls in the following countries: Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Belgium (including Liefkenshoektunnel), Germany, France, Italy (including Caronte ferry services), Austria, Poland (A4, Katowice - Krakow and the e-TOLL network), Hungary, Bulgaria, Portugal, Spain, Norway (including ferries, bridges, tunnels and motorways), Sweden (bridges and ferries), Denmark (bridges and ferries) and Switzerland (including Liechtenstein).

UTA One next is suitable for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, making it ideal for companies that travel throughout Europe and that are affected by the new German toll for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, which came into force on 1 July.

Upcoming toll service changes

Additional updates for UTA One next are on the starting blocks: Support for the Czech toll system is in development, and the device will be able to process tolls in Denmark from 1 January 2025, when the country moves from the Eurovignette to an all-new, independent toll system.

The predecessor of UTA One next - UTA One® - will also receive updates. Starting in October, it can be used for tolls in Croatia, and from 2025, it will support Danish tolls.

UTA One® Move is UTA Edenred's interoperable toll device for cars and vans up to 3.5 tonnes. It covers France, Portugal, Spain and Italy, including the city centre toll for Milan (AREA C), car park charges and Caronte ferry services. The Croatian toll context will be added to UTA One Move in September.
