In Germany , an HGV toll is collected for domestic and foreign vehicles and vehicle combinations of road haulage with a technically permissible gross weight of ≥ 7.5 metric tonnes. From 01/07/2024, the toll will be extended to vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes. More information can be found here. With an on-board unit Toll Collect, the German toll operator, you can settle tolls for motorways and trunk roads. The amount of the toll is based on the distance travelled by the vehicle and a toll rate in cents per kilometre, which includes a portion for the carbon, emissions, air pollution, noise pollution and infrastructure costs incurred.

Toll2GO: Expansion to Austrian tolls
In addition to toll routes in Germany, you can use your Toll Collect OBU to settle Austrian tolls . To use the service, submit an application with ASFINAG, the Austrian toll operator, in the SelfCare Portal. Once your application is approved, the Toll Collect toll box will be activated and unlocked by Toll Collect. Relevant contract information is stored on your OBU, which means you don’t need to visit a GO sales location.
If your vehicle was previously equipped with an Austrian GO-Box , this must be returned to ASFINAG to avoid incorrect toll bookings. Exchanging a GO-Box for the Toll Collect toll box is free of charge!

What vehicle types is the OBU suitable for?
Vehicles ≥ 7,5 t
The Toll Collect DIN Shaft OBU is designed for vehicles for ≥ 7.5 t.
Toll Collect offers the Windshield OBU for vehicles from > 3.5 t to < 7.5 t. Both devices can be used for all weight classes.

How long does it take to deliver the OBUs?
What do the OBUs cost?
There are no fees for the OBUs, but they remain the property of Toll Collect. Only the installation of the OBUs will incur costs.
How do you install the OBUs?
Depending on the model, the OBU is installed in the DIN slot, mounted on the dashboard of your vehicle or on the windscreen. The installation must be carried out by a service partner.
